This is a tutorial for PSP8.

What you will need for this tutorial:

Paint Shop Pro (Trial Version)

Any image preferably about 200 pixels on the longest side. If you would like to use the one I used just right click and copy to your hard drive.

STEP 1:

Duplicate your image about 5 times by using Shift + D or Windows--Duplicate

STEP 2:

Go to Effects--Effects Browser and you should get something like this.

Click on the + sign next to Effects and a whole new world opens up. *S* Click on Art Media Effects then on Brush Strokes. As you can see, you can preview all the presets at one time! This is so much better than in PSP7.

For the first background I chose Impressionist and didn't modify the settings. Then go to Effects--Reflection Effects--Pattern. Rotation angle=90, Number of columns and rows=3, the rest at 0.

Voila! The first background and it is already seamless, *S*.

Now you can save that one for future use.

STEP 3:

Click on your next duplicate image and back to the effects browser. Click on artistic effects and then enamel. I chose Custom 6 no modifications.

Using the same settings in Pattern, I got this.

Save and minimize that one and click on another duplicate image.

STEP 4: This time let's try distortion effects and polar coordinates. I wanted to get rid of the black so I hit modify.

For fun I click on polar to rectangle.

Though that was kind of cool so I used the same settings in pattern to get this.

Save and minimize this image and click on another duplicate copy.

STEP 5: Still in distortion effects and click on wave with these settings.

Use the same settings in pattern and you should get this.

Save and minimize this one. Activate your last duplicate and just scroll through the effects until you see something you like.

This tutorial is just to show you how effective the effects browser is and to encourage you to explore and experiment!

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial, as much as I did creating it for you.
